At Whitefish Stage Farm it's important that folks know where their food comes from and who grows it. We also believe our community is better off eating food that's hyper fresh, delicious. and more affordable because it's produced locally. That's because in the U.S. we have a food system that isn't about the quality of the food anymore. Today the average American farmer gets $0.15 cents for every dollar spent on food in the grocery store while the average bunch of broccoli, cauliflower, green peas, spinach or lettuce travels more than 2,000 miles, and takes an average of 2 weeks to get to the store. This forces farmers to produce food as cheaply as possible, often using pesticides and fertilizers to drive down their costs...and requires the use of chemical preservatives, genetic modifications and special packaging to allow the food to survive the journey. All this combines so that folks are really paying more for the other stuff than they are nutritious food. As a result of all of this American's are sicker than ever...a lot of that owing to the lack of nutrition in food. But many consumers are becoming aware and are starting to change this broken food system by buying from local farmers that they know and trust. We at Whitefish Stage Organic Farms are here to help the Flathead eat healthier, better tasting, fresher food grown right here!
